Preliminary exercise learner response

 1) Type up your teacher's feedback in full plus a summary of the comments you received from other students in the class.

WWW:

Low angle, high angle, slo-mo, post production (blue filter), use of one way sign (links to lyrics), split screen, communicates concept, concept + performance, mise en scene (skeleton outfit and black ski mask).

EBI:

On screen graphics include industry info + name of song ect, smoother ending (fade to black), one way sign overused (another location), lip syncing.

2) Using a combination of your own reflection on the preliminary exercise and the feedback you were given, write three WWW bullet points and three EBI bullet points for your work.

3) How effectively did you complete the objective you laid out in your mini preliminary exercise statement of intent?
I mostly succeeded in things like the mise en scene but i want to fix the editing 

4) What have you learned from the preliminary exercise that will help you in the actual coursework project?
I learnt that I need to listen to the song more while filming so I get the timings right to be able to make the lip syncing better.

5) Now you have completed the preliminary exercise, will you change anything about your actual coursework video plan? This could include your concept, cast/actors or technical elements such as mise-en-scene, camerawork or editing.
Yes I will make the lip syncing better, remove the slow motion parts and reshoot some of the scenes specifically the bench one so the split screen effect is more clean and seamless.

1) Find a film clip on YouTube that uses sound in an interesting way. Analyse the use of sound, making sure you use the key language we have learned about sound in film: clip The clip is from the end scene of season one of Arcane therefore the  non-diegetic music is dramatic and builds up which is parallel   to the scene of Jinx shooting the rocket as the tension is also building up. The lyrics of the song are also paralle l to that scene since the line "I'm the monster you created" is related to Jinx's story in the show. Get Out - opening sequence 1/2)This whole scene is a 'oner' which is used to build tension and suspense for an audience as the whole scene feel like it lingers for too long, putting the audience in the characters shoes with the sense of uneasiness turned to fear. The first few frames of the sequence don't have the character in them yet, but his diegetic dialogue can be heard, it serves as an establishing shot for the dark, quiet street he is walking on. By already demonstrating the eerie setting, the first few seconds already make the audience feel tense and it introduces the genre of thriller right from the start. The shot is also a tracking shot facing towards the character to make him the main focus but also leaving space for darkness around him that builds more uneasiness.
