Blade Runner:

Colour/ lighting is dark next to antagonist and light next to protagonist (binary oppositions).

Close up shot for facial expression conveys a stern expression which shows the action genre.

Target audience is adults.

High angle to show futuristic city (setting)illustrating the sci-fi genre

Action codes and enigma codes are shown with the hero holding a gun (prop) which poses questions for the audience.

Scary Movie 2:

- Target audience is teenagers/young adults and low brow.

- Exaggerated conventions like the facial expressions portray that the movie is a comedy/ horror that serves to parody other horror movies.

- Red colour for title connotes to blood conveying the horror genre.

- Tagline has repetition.

- The characters' shirts have references to other horror movies which is intertextuality therefore, this movie is a post modern text.

- Title is sans serif which is usually used to be less serious and more friendly further establishing that this is a comedy.

UZAK:

- Target audience: adults, niche audience, middle/high class

- Long shot of character with backlighting creates a silhouette of the protagonist which creates enigma codes surrounding the protagonist since we don't see his face and can only see his dark costume and body language.

- Colour scheme is desaturated establishing that the film is for adults and shows that the genre is likely a drama.

-  A critique quote states that the film is a "masterpiece" which connotes to art conveying that the movie is an art-house film.

I'm Not Scared:

- High angle shot makes the subject (the protagonist) look large conveying he is important to the narrative. Also the shot choice lets the audience view a part of the setting as the camera is set up as if it is in a hole creating enigma codes around the plot.

- This is an independent film.

- Target audience is teenagers and adults since the genre is a thriller.

- The fact that the protagonist is a child could convey that this movie is unique and subversive compared to other thrillers. This is further emphasised with the colour scheme being mainly bright blue and yellow.

Sin City:

- The majority of the colour scheme being black and white suggests that this could be a noir film.

-The target audience is adults because the characters' props are guns which connotes to violence. In addition, the title stands out as it's the only thing in a bright colour, red, which can connote to blood and gore with further conveys this film isn't for children.

- The high angle shot of the protagonists suggests they are powerful and important to the narrative.

Pirates of the Caribbean:

- This is in the Adventure/Action film because it is clear the narrative will follow pirates from: the title, the characters' costume and the protagonists' prop gun and conventionally pirates are associated with fights, conflict and quests which all fit into the genre.

- The target audience is mainstream.

Bride and Prejudice:

- Target audience is mainstream, likely low/middle class and teenagers/ young adults.

- The genre is rom-com.

Million Dollar Baby:

- Genre is likely a drama and/or action because of the dramatic lighting and the protagonists costume which looks more active and practical.

- The target audience is adults as the actors all have stern and serious facial expressions and the lighting which leaves a high contrast between the darkness and light suggests a more serious tone in which children are mostly not interested in.
