My video is in the thriller genre and frames the subject more regularly from far away to build a sense of mystery and to create tension around the antagonist.

Mise-en-scene blog task

The costumes are superhero outfits which illustrates that this falls in the action and/or sci-fi genre. The lighting is mostly low-key apart from the main blast of high-key light which is used to portray the strength of both characters. The actors are places mostly central on the screen and each are posed to make the shot look mostly symmetrical and this framing of them to both be equal conveys that they are similar although being on opposing sides of the fight. The setting is a disheveled/ broken down building and it is in the foreground of this long- shot whilst the main action is in the mid-ground of the scene which shows the setting to be almost enclosing and trapping them in whilst they fight possibly suggesting a negative mental state during the fight. Film Poster Analysis

      Blade Runner: -  Colour/ lighting  is dark next to  antagonist  and light next to  protagonist  ( binary oppositions ). -  Close up  shot for  facial expression  conveys a stern expression which shows the  action genre. -  Target audience  is adults. -  High angle   to show futuristic city ( setting )illustrating the  sci-fi genre -  Action codes  and  enigma codes  are shown with the hero holding a gun ( prop ) which poses questions for the audience. Scary Movie 2: - Target audience is teenagers/young adults and low brow. - Exaggerated conventions like the facial expressions portray that the movie is a  comedy/ horror that serves to parody other horror movies. - Red colour for title connotes to blood conveying the horror genre . - Tagline has repetition. - The characters' shirts have references to other horror movies which is intertextuality there...

Sound analysis

1) Find a film clip on YouTube that uses sound in an interesting way. Analyse the use of sound, making sure you use the key language we have learned about sound in film: clip The clip is from the end scene of season one of Arcane therefore the  non-diegetic music is dramatic and builds up which is parallel   to the scene of Jinx shooting the rocket as the tension is also building up. The lyrics of the song are also paralle l to that scene since the line "I'm the monster you created" is related to Jinx's story in the show. In addition, there is a voice over from slice saying "we will show them, we will show them all" which is mostly non-diegetic as the other characters can't hear it and he isn't actually saying it in that moment however it's as though Jinx hears it so it could also be diegetic.  Furthermore, there are scenes of other characters that have dialogue to continue the plot which still has the music that better relates to the scene ...
