Q1: WWW- some close textual analysis

EBI-  more on ideology- hegemony, capitalism ect.

Q2: WWW- some industry info and interesting final point about audiences.

EBI- avoid talking about how contexts change representation as that's not what the question asks... distribution/ consumption.

2) Read the mark scheme for this exam carefully (posted on your exam teacher's Google Classroom), paying particular attention to the the 'indicative content' for each question. Firstly, focus on the unseen question and identify two aspects of the poster that you could have written about in your answer. 

- an ideological reading might suggest that capitalism is a corrupt system which only benefits the few.

- the positioning of character and mode of address can be interpreted as signifiers of race and gender (the dominant white male, evasive black male, diminished female)

- the relative size of the figures in relation to the buildings signifies a super-human aspect to the characters, suggesting their omnipotence

3) Look at the indicative content for Q1 again and make a note of any theories or examples of media terminology you could have used in your answer.

4) Now focus on the TV 25-marker. Read this exemplar response for the TV question and pick out three arguments, phrases or theories from the essay that you could use in a future question on Capital and Deutschland 83.

-Applying Gramsci’s theory of hegemony, this is unconsciously communicating to audiences the value in working hard, earning money and contributing to consumerism and capitalism - maintaining the status quo and reinforcing more rightwing ideology.

-It could be argued that western capitalist ideologies are being unconsciously reinforced through the construction of the narrative and key elements of mise-en-scene. The supermarket scene in the West where Martin first sees the plentiful food, colourful fruit and policemen eating ice creams presents the West as offering a much higher standard of living than the East and therefore reinforcing the dominant capitalist ideology we see across so much of western media.

5) Finally, identify three things you need to revise for Media Paper 2 before your next assessment of mock exam.

Mise-en-scene blog task

The costumes are superhero outfits which illustrates that this falls in the action and/or sci-fi genre. The lighting is mostly low-key apart from the main blast of high-key light which is used to portray the strength of both characters. The actors are places mostly central on the screen and each are posed to make the shot look mostly symmetrical and this framing of them to both be equal conveys that they are similar although being on opposing sides of the fight. The setting is a disheveled/ broken down building and it is in the foreground of this long- shot whilst the main action is in the mid-ground of the scene which shows the setting to be almost enclosing and trapping them in whilst they fight possibly suggesting a negative mental state during the fight. Sound analysis

1) Find a film clip on YouTube that uses sound in an interesting way. Analyse the use of sound, making sure you use the key language we have learned about sound in film: clip The clip is from the end scene of season one of Arcane therefore the  non-diegetic music is dramatic and builds up which is parallel   to the scene of Jinx shooting the rocket as the tension is also building up. The lyrics of the song are also paralle l to that scene since the line "I'm the monster you created" is related to Jinx's story in the show. In addition, there is a voice over from slice saying "we will show them, we will show them all" which is mostly non-diegetic as the other characters can't hear it and he isn't actually saying it in that moment however it's as though Jinx hears it so it could also be diegetic.  Furthermore, there are scenes of other characters that have dialogue to continue the plot which still has the music that better relates to the scene ...
